Greater transparency, improved integration and new opportunities for modern business communication
With the new firmware update 10.1.226.13, Snom expands the functionality of its desk phones across several key areas. The focus is on a modernised user interface, enhanced directory integration, increased transparency in device management, and numerous optimisations for day-to-day use in professional VoIP environments.
A central component of the update is the upgrade of the phone user interface to Qt 6.8 for models in the D86x and D89x series. This establishes a modern technical foundation that supports performance, maintainability and future development.
Another new feature is the server-based quick lookup function. Using the setting quick_lookup_json_url, contacts from external sources can be integrated via a JSON web service. This simplifies the integration of central phonebooks, cloud-based directories or CRM-related systems.
Device management has also been revised: DMS is now deactivated by default and can be enabled directly on the phone via the new “Device Management” menu option. An on-screen notification informs users as soon as DMS is active. This provides greater transparency and supports organisations with high security and compliance requirements.
For enterprise environments, the update delivers further enhancements, including support for up to three LDAP servers, three-way conferencing using the OPUS codec, and extended support for telephone-event 48000. In addition, the BroadWorks call park function has been expanded to include “Call Park Extensions”.
International usability has also been improved: Norwegian and Basque have been added, and missing Italian and Polish characters in input and search fields have been corrected.
Alongside these new features, the release includes numerous optimisations and bug fixes, for example in relation to Bluetooth headsets, call history, registration behaviour, network switching, BLF status indicators and function keys. Passwords in URLs and logs are also now masked more consistently.
The full changelog and the download for the latest firmware are, as usual, available in the Snom Service Hub.
