See who’s at the door on your Snom phone
With the latest firmware update for Snom desk phones, we are significantly expanding the possibilities around door communication, call handling and administration. This release is aimed especially at workplaces with high communication volumes – from reception areas to modern office and security environments.
Door camera integration – now in focus
A central highlight of this release is the enhanced integration of door intercoms and cameras on D86x and D89x desk phones.
Thanks to the new Action URL field in the local directory, door intercoms, IP cameras, and similar devices can now be integrated even more flexibly. When a doorbell event occurs, the live video stream from the door intercom is displayed directly on the phone’s screen. From there, calls can be answered, doors can be opened via DTMF, or additional actions can be triggered using freely configurable Action URLs.
This turns the Snom desk phone into a central control unit for reception areas, offices, and securityrelated access points – providing full control directly from the desk.
Arrange directories flexibly
With this release, administrators gain more freedom in designing the user interface. Entries in the directory menu can now be individually sorted or hidden if needed – including local, serverbased, LDAP, and external XML directories.
This allows the phone to be optimally adapted to real workflows, ensuring the most important directories are immediately accessible for users and reception personnel.
Improved call park functions for busy environments
Call handling has also been further optimized. Enhancements to Call Park and Group Call Park make parking and retrieving calls easier. Dedicated dial keys and extended configuration options ensure better integration with existing PBX environments.
These functions are particularly valuable for reception areas, support teams, and all workplaces with high call volumes.
Updated 3CX SBC integration
Additionally, the firmware update includes an update of the builtin 3CX Session Border Controller (SBC) to version 20.1.0.
This ensures that both new provisioning processes and firmware upgrades always use the latest SBC version, providing a stable and futureproof connection to 3CX environments.
Alongside these highlights, the new firmware release includes numerous bug fixes, optimizations and compatibility improvements for various device series.
You can find the full changelog and download the latest firmware as usual in the Snom Service Hub.
