snom 200: No. 1 in test by “Network computing” (USA)

For their current issue, the trade magazine “Network Computing” tested in its Real-World Labs® cost-effective SIP telephones in terms of performance, compatibility and features. The snom 200 came out at first place.

In comparison to the competing models ipDialog SipTone II and Zultys Technologies ZIP 2, snom 200 gained extra points above all for its two-line LCD display and the key arrangement, which in terms of call transmission and conference calls is particularly advantageous for newcomers to VoIP due to its easy operation. The web interface offers quick button programming and distinguishes between user and administrator access, enabling problem-free avoidance of unwanted changes in the settings.

According to “Network Computing”, in addition to its five programmable function keys, the snom 200 has the additional advantage of NAT support and the “trace” feature, which in the troubleshooting can track incoming and outgoing calls, helping to quickly remove any problems that occur.

In a few weeks a further VoIP telephone for private customers will be available with all the features that also characterize the snom 200. Although the new snom 190 does not provide Power-Over-Ethernet, in comparison to the 200 model it does support the additional Codec G.723.1 and can therefore be combined with a larger amount of equipment of other manufacturers. In addition, even over low bandwidths the user is able to make calls with a quality that was previously only possible with broadband technology.
