The snom OCS Edition (snom Open Communication Solution Edition) combines the advantages of the open IP telephony standard SIP with the integration into Microsoft®'s Office Communication Server 2007 and the complete Unified Communications solution.
snom phones are the first open-standard SIP phones with native Microsoft® Office Communication Server 2007 integration. They allow you to:
- have incoming calls announced simultaneously on your desktop AND your snom phone;
- search for names or phone numbers on the Microsoft® Office Communication Server via snom ActiveDirectory Search (snom LDAP);
- see the current status of your contacts (free, not logged on, busy);
- place secure calls both from your computer via Microsoft® OCS OR from your snom phone.

A special snom firmware release makes it possible to integrate snom phones of the 3xx series with the well-known Microsoft® Office Communication Server 2007 R2. This means that every user of the snom 3xx can use the comfortable features of the Microsoft® Office Communication Server 2007 R2.
To call someone, the user simply clicks on the name in the snom LDAP Active Directory list. The Microsoft® Office Communication Server 2007 places the call.
Furthermore, the user can always see the status of each of his contacts and place calls from the Microsoft® Office Communication Server 2007 to all phones registered there and to the Microsoft® Office Communication Server 2007.
