snom launches installation training aimed at newcomers to VoIP

July 14th, 2008

snom technology AG, specialist in voice over IP telephony, is launching in mid-July an initiative geared to all newcomers to the VoIP business: a worldwide series of training events on installing the VoIP telecommunications systems by Asterisk and snom’s VoIP telephones. In offering VoIP installation training, snom is responding to a wish many dealers have expressed for introductory training sessions. Participation in the training snom is organizing is contingent upon the purchase of a VoIP starter bundle. Further information is available at www.snom.com/de/produkte/snom-asterisk-bundle/.

The snom VoIP training sessions begin on July 17 in Berlin. From there, they will be taken to snom’s partners worldwide – in Austria (IPAustria), Switzerland (Shark Distribution), Spain (EUREPSIP), Italy (Allnet Italia), Australia (Noojee Telephony and Digital Techniques) and Hong Kong (Digital Techniques Asia). Even before the series of training events has actually got underway Oliver Wittig, Vice President Sales EMEA at snom, already notes a positive response: “The great interest in the installation training, particularly in the combination Asterisk telecom system and snom telephones, shows us we are filling a real gap.”

One of the problems facing any telecom specialist installing VoIP system and phones locally is that he must first obtain a general picture of the many features available. In offering these introductory training sessions, snom seeks to support installers and demonstrate how uncomplicated the job of setting up a solid VoIP basic configuration consisting of Asterisk system and snom telephones can be. “When a few basic principles are observed, this installation can be realized just as well and as easily as in ISDN or DSL,” Oliver Wittig of snom points out. Prominent attributes of snom VoIP telephones are their high security standards and the great many additional functions that optimize significantly communication in everyday business. snom telephone users profit from the interoperability and flexibility of the phones. snom devices can be integrated into just about any SIP-based environment. What is more, the Asterisk VoIP systems have been based on the open standard and Linux since as long ago as 1999. The great advantage for users: the software is accessible to anyone, making it easy to expand.
