pbxnsip is a software based solution that combines traditional IP-PBX features with the following enhancements incorporated into the new V2.0 software release:
- User Portal with call lists, click to play voicemail, and Personal Address Book
- Per-extension calling recording for incoming and/or outgoing calls
- Cell phone support where calls to an extension will also ring their cell phone
- Improved CDR (call detail record) handling
- IM and Presence Agent support where users can send IM message through the PBX
- Support for Multicast Paging and Intercom initiation through a “star code”
- Domain level Music on Hold can now be an RTP stream, file, or Windows Audio
- Plug and Play phone support via XML configuration
- Auto Attendant now features Camp On, “Black and White” lists, and announcements
- Mailbox support allowing voicemail to be emailed and support for Microsoft Exchange

The Office version is targeted at small to medium-sized businesses and will run on Windows 2003, XP, and Vista systems as well as Linux servers. Standard PBX features including voicemail, auto attendant, conferencing, hunt groups, paging, forwarding, transfer, and music on hold are available in the Office editions. The Center version supports more advanced call center features like agent groups, call recording, and access to a SOAP based API. The system includes a mini-session border controller that can connect remote NAT SIP devices to the system in a seamless manner.
