Certification Overview

The widely respected certification program available from snom brings valuable, measurable rewards to VoIP professionals and the organizations that employ them. There are no formal prerequisites for SCE certification; other professional certifications or training courses are not required. Instead, candidates must first pass a multiplechoice web-based qualification exam, the hands-on lab exam, and the troubleshooting lab exam. You are expected to have an in-depth understanding of the TCP/IP, SIP, VoIP and snom technologies. Students are strongly encouraged to have two to five years of VoIP experience before attempting the certification.

The certification is offered at the end of the Certification snom Training course or can be taken separately.

The certification exam consists of the following 3 parts:

• Part One

The written exam is a 60 minute multiple choice test with 100 questions covering the TCP/IP, SIP, VoIP, and snom technologies and applications.

• Part Two

The snom lab exam is a 90 minute hands-on exam which requires you to setup a snom enterprise voice solution over an IP network. Although basic network applications (DHCP, TFTP, HTTP, SIP PBX, SIP proxy, etc.) are provided, you are responsible for configuring applications and snom phones to satisfy the requirements of the lab exam.

• Part Three

The 90 minute troubleshooting lab exam tests your ability to debug and fix important parameters of a VoIP network such as SIP proxy, SIP gateway, DNS, firewall rules, NAT, VLAN, and snom provisioning system in a timed test situation.

Location

The snom Certified Engineer exam is administered at snom Training Center sacross the world. Please see ► Dates  for more details.

Cost

The exam is administered by snom professional services at the cost of €250 Euro. Costs may vary due the exchange rates and local taxes (VAT, GST).

Results

The multiple choice exam results are available immediately following the exam. You can review your hands-on and troubleshooting exam online (login and password required) usually within 72 hours. All the results are Pass/Fail, and failing score reports indicate major topic areas where additional study and preparation may be helpful.

Retakes

Should a student not pass the certification exam, the student must wait a minimum of 30 days before taking the exam again.
